The General Manager of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, Mrs. Adetoun Ibilola Popoola, on Thursday, 9th July, 2026, announced the commencement of activities for the Annual Tree Planting Day in Lagos State. She said the 2026 edition, themed "Trees for Lagos: Our City, Our Responsibility", is aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, increasing green cover, and encouraging residents to take ownership of the state’s greening initiatives. Mrs. Popoola explained that the annual exercise reflects the commitment of the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to combat climate change, improve air quality, and create a cleaner, healthier, and more livable city. She called on individuals, corporate organisations, schools, and community groups to actively participate in the tree planting exercise across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state. “Tree planting is not just an event. It is a responsibility. As we plant from Tuesday, 14th July 2026, we are securing a greener and more sustainable Lagos for future generations,” she said. “Let’s come together to plant, nurture, and protect our trees. A greener Lagos starts with YOU”.   The General Manager revealed that details of planting locations and participation guidelines will be released soon by the Agency.
