Lagos Pilgrims Charged to Stand as Watchmen for Nigeria

Bishop Jeremiah Abidemi of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, has urged pilgrims to stand as watchmen and women for Nigeria at the evening devotion of the ongoing pilgrimage exercise in Nazareth, Israel. Bishop Jeremiah said, "God is conferring WON (Watchmen and Women of Niger) on us, alongside Jerusalem Pilgrim."

Bishop Jeremiah emphasised God's call for intercessors (Isaiah 62:6), saying, "God wants His people to be watchmen, standing in the gap and praying for Nigeria." He encouraged pilgrims to stand with integrity, good character, and be a ray of hope for others.

"Pray for Nigeria, its leaders, and families – pray with integrity," he said. "If we live good lives, Nigeria is closer to greatness." The Lagos pilgrims echoed prayers for Nigeria's prosperity and God's guidance to live a life of integrity and hope that will light up the world.

In his closing charge, the Board Secretary of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Okudero Gbolabo Omoniyi Ph.D. reiterated the need for the pilgrims to remain focused. Okudero said, "Nazareth is a land that people thought nothing good can come out. John 1:46 reads, 'And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see'." The same place that was termed useless produced Jesus Christ the Messiah of the world. "This is the opportunity to pray into manifestation our hidden glory," Okudero said.

While thanking the pilgrims for their coordination and orderliness, Okudero confirmed that the pilgrims will visit River Jordan on the 7th day of the exercise.
