The Lagos State Government has commenced registration for the 2026 Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Lands of Israel and Jordan, reaffirming its commitment to promoting spiritual growth, religious tourism and faith-based values among residents.
The pilgrimage, being coordinated by the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB), is designed to provide Christians with a rare opportunity to retrace the footsteps of Jesus Christ and experience first-hand the biblical locations that shaped the foundation of the Christian faith.
According to the Board, intending pilgrims will visit several historical and biblical sites, including Jerusalem, the River Jordan, Nazareth, Cana in Galilee, Capernaum, Mount Carmel, the Dead Sea, Jabbok River, Ephesus, Athens, Patmos Island, the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine and other notable destinations across Israel and Jordan.
The programme is expected to deepen participants' spiritual lives while exposing them to the rich religious, historical and cultural heritage of Christianity.
The Board announced that registration has commenced with a non-refundable registration fee of ₦20,000, while the pilgrimage package for Jerusalem and Jordan attracts a deposit of ₦3.2 million.
To make the exercise more accessible, prospective pilgrims have been offered flexible instalment payment options starting from ₦20,000, allowing intending participants to spread payments over time before departure.
The comprehensive pilgrimage package covers return airfare, visa processing, accommodation, feeding, welfare materials and reliable transportation throughout the pilgrimage period in Israel and Jordan.
Pilgrims will depart in batches scheduled for July/August and November/December, providing participants with multiple travel windows.
The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board described the pilgrimage as more than a physical journey, noting that it is a life-transforming spiritual experience that enables believers to strengthen their faith while praying at locations associated with significant events recorded in the Holy Bible.
Quoting Zechariah 8:22—"Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord Almighty in Jerusalem and to pray before the Lord"—the Board said the exercise aligns with its vision of encouraging Christians to deepen their relationship with God through prayer, worship and spiritual reflection.
Interested applicants have been advised to obtain further information and complete their registration at the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board offices located at 22/23 Oba Akinjobi Way, Old Secretariat, GRA, Ikeja, and Chapel of Christ the Light Church, CIPM Road, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja.
The Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a seamless pilgrimage exercise, stressing that the welfare, safety and spiritual fulfilment of pilgrims remain its top priorities throughout the journey.
With preparations now in top gear, the Lagos State Government has called on eligible Christians across the state to take advantage of the opportunity to embark on what it described as a life-changing pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where faith, history and devotion converge in one unforgettable spiritual experience
