LAGOS STATE MATERIALS TESTING LABORATORY AGENCY, COREN, BEGIN 3-DAY INSPECTION OF PRIVATE MATERIALS TESTING LABORATORIES ACROSS LAGOS STATE

---As GM charges Certified Private Laboratories to uphold Professionalism in C curbing building collapse

The Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory (LSMTL), in collaboration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), has commenced an intensive three-day (3- day) inspection exercise of Private Materials Testing Laboratories, as part of measures to assess compliance with Regulatory Requirements, Professional Standards, Quality Management Systems, Laboratory Safety Protocols, and Operational Best Practices on Materials Testing across Lagos State . 

During the inspection, Laboratories will be evaluated on key areas including infrastructure, equipment, personnel qualifications, documentation, quality assurance practices, and the validity of operational licenses and certifications.

Speaking on the significance of the exercise, on Thursday 18th June, 2026, the General Manager, LSMTL; Engr. Olayinka Abdul, emphasized critical need for Certified COREN Private Materials Testing Laboratories, to work closely with the Agency in delivering credible and dependable results , in order to curb the persistent episodes of building collapse in Lagos State, particularly one targeted at ensuring Materials Testing Services provided to the Construction Industry meet approved standards , even as it contributes to the safety and integrity of buildings and infrastructure across the State.
