The re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received a major boost following the endorsement of over 50,000 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State.
The endorsement, supervised by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and attended by members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), National Assembly lawmakers from the state, House of Assembly members, and council chairmen, took place during a Special Congregational Prayer organised by the Renewed Hope Network at Tafawa Balewa Square.
The gathering also unanimously endorsed the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadri Hamzat, as the consensus governorship candidate of the party for the 2027 election in the state.
Addressing the large crowd, Governor Sanwo-Olu said President Tinubu deserves another term to consolidate and sustain the progressive reforms being implemented across critical sectors of the economy.
According to him, Deputy Governor Hamzat is well-positioned to succeed him, having garnered decades of political and administrative experience as well as the required knowledge to manage the affairs of Lagos State effectively.
Speaking at the event, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello assured President Tinubu of massive support from Kogi State ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He stated that the President, who has mentored and raised many political leaders across the country, would not need to campaign extensively in Kogi State before securing their support.
In his remarks, Deputy Governor Hamzat thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu, GAC leaders, and party faithful for the love, sincerity, and trust reposed in him to continue the progressive tradition in Lagos State.
He urged Nigerians to come out in large numbers to support President Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general elections.
Rev. Stephen Adegbite, who led the Christian prayers at the gathering, prayed for sound health for the President and continued safety for the First Family.
The National Missioner and Amir of NADWAT International, Sheikh Mohammed Abdul Rahman Lawal, prayed for peace, unity, and full economic recovery for the country. He also prayed for peaceful conduct before, during, and after the 2027 general elections.
The Lagos State Convener of the Renewed Hope Network, James Abiodun Faleke, expressed delight that Lagos APC members were more united following the endorsement of Dr. Hamzat.
He charged party members to mobilise at least two additional voters each for the APC in all elections in 2027.
According to Faleke, President Tinubu has laid a solid foundation for the future growth and success of Nigeria through his ambitious reforms.
He also urged Nigerians to resist political manipulation by opposition figures defecting from one political party to another, questioning their ability to manage national challenges when they could not resolve internal crises within their parties.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the group in Lagos, Hon. Mohammed Oyinlomo Danmole, expressed appreciation for the massive turnout and assured party members that all APC candidates, including President Tinubu and Dr. Hamzat, would justify the confidence reposed in them.
