A coalition of Christian non-governmental organisations under the aegis of the Christian NGOs Coordinating Council has announced plans to hold a National Prayer Summit for Nigeria and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.
The summit, themed “A Nation Loved by God,” with reference to 2 Chronicles 7:14, is scheduled to hold on May 14, 2026, at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, by 11 a.m.
According to the organisers, the programme is aimed at seeking divine intervention for Nigeria, praying for national peace, unity and good governance, while also providing an avenue for engagement with political candidates and aspirants ahead of future elections.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected at the event alongside Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and other political leaders, including senatorial, House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly aspirants and candidates.
The organisers said prominent clerics and government officials would deliver keynote addresses and goodwill messages during the summit.
Among personalities expected at the gathering are the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Hon. Tayo Ayinde; Head of the Lagos Methodist Church, Archbishop Dr. Isaac A. Olawuyi; APC Chairman in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; and Dr. Oluwaseye Yomi Sholoye of The New Seraph Ministries.
Speaking on behalf of the organising committee, the National Coordinator, Rev. Dr. Sam Ogedengbe, described the summit as a spiritual gathering designed to promote national healing, reconciliation and collective responsibility among leaders and citizens.
Other officials coordinating the programme include Bishop Kayode Williams, Deputy National Coordinator; Archbishop Mike Akinyoade, National Secretary; and Primate Dr. Dare Akindele, who heads mobilisation and logistics for the event.
The organisers urged Nigerians, especially political office holders, aspirants and faith-based groups, to participate actively in the prayer summit for the peace and progress of the country.
