The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, has announced plans to mark the birthday of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as a gesture of solidarity with some of the country’s most vulnerable citizens.
President Tinubu will turn 74 on Friday, March 29, 2026.
Speaking on the planned visit, the Minister said the decision to spend the day with displaced persons reflects the spirit of compassion and inclusion that underpins the President’s approach to governance.
According to him, supporting vulnerable Nigerians remains central to the broader development priorities of the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.
Dr. Doro explained that the Ministry considered it meaningful to mark the President’s birthday by extending kindness to people who continue to face hardship due to displacement and conflict.
He noted that the visit to the IDP camp in Abuja would provide an opportunity for the Ministry to interact with displaced families, share a moment of celebration with them, and reaffirm the government’s commitment to supporting them until they can return safely to their communities.
"Ministry continues to work with relevant partners and agencies to improve humanitarian support systems across the country while pursuing longer-term solutions that restore livelihoods and promote stability in affected communities," he said.
He added that humanitarian service must remain focused on compassion, dignity, and the well-being of those most affected by crisis.
Dr. Doro also encouraged Nigerians who wish to celebrate the President’s birthday to consider acts of kindness toward the less privileged.
According to him, extending support to vulnerable members of society would be a meaningful way to honour the values of compassion and national unity.
He further disclosed that prayers would be offered for the President’s continued strength, wisdom, and success in leading the country.
