The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, has described the beginning of a new year as a period of renewal, reflection and celebration, urging residents and stakeholders to embrace hope and collective responsibility in building a globally admired Lagos.

In her New Year message to Lagosians and industry players, the commissioner expressed gratitude for the remarkable progress recorded in the tourism, entertainment and hospitality sectors in 2025, attributing the achievements to the creativity, resilience and collaborative efforts of stakeholders across the value chain.

According to her, the gains recorded over the past year were not the result of individual efforts, but a testament to the strength of partnerships between government, private sector operators, creatives and cultural institutions working towards a shared vision for the state.

Benson-Awoyinka reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to sustaining policies and initiatives that will further stimulate growth, attract global attention and position Lagos as Africa’s leading destination for tourism, arts and cultural expression.

“As we step into 2026, let us continue to spread joy, hope and optimism, while working together to build a more vibrant and globally admired Lagos,” she said.

She concluded by wishing Lagosians and visitors a beautiful, prosperous and fulfilling New Year, expressing confidence that the coming year would usher in greater opportunities for cultural advancement and economic growth in the state.
