The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, Mr. Tunde Olalere, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence during the 2025 World Photography Day celebration.
The event, organised by the Photo Journalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN), was held on Tuesday at the DAP Experience Centre, Lekki, Lagos.
Olalere was recognised for his outstanding contributions to journalism. The award was jointly presented by former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba; the Lebu II of Ojula Kingdom in Ondo State, HRM Adeboye Charles; and PJAN Chairperson, Mrs. Alaba Igbaroola.
In his remarks, Olalere urged journalists to remain dedicated to the pen profession while underscoring the vital role of photography in storytelling.
> “I want to encourage journalists, especially those of the Lagos State Council, to flesh up their stories with pictures. By so doing, this will bring about credibility and originality,” he said.
He further charged journalism students from Yaba College of Technologyx (YABATECH), who attended the event, to draw inspiration from the celebration and see themselves as future leaders of the profession.
The Lagos NUJ Executive Council, led by its Chairman, also congratulated Olalere on the recognition, describing it as a well-deserved honour.
