The Nigerian stock exchange group flag off nutrition intervention programme Bringing life to our overlooked minors ( BLOOM ) project in Lagos State health district IV in conjunction with health Emergency Initiative.
The Permanent Secretary Lagos State Health District IV, represented by Dr. Oludolapo Sotunde, Director Medical Services and Disease Control, Lagos State Health District IV, said in a simple yet powerful truth a well- nourished child is the foundation of a healthy and prosperous society. We can not overemphasize the significance of nutrition in the first five years of the life of the children, these formative years are crucial for a child's brain body and immune system, which undergo rapid growth and development, unfortunately many children miss this vital opportunity due to malnutrition, poor feeding practices and lack of access in health education.
The Head Nigeria Exchange Group, Mr. Adebayo Falade, said several factors can contribute to a child not gaining weight properly or experiencing difficulty gaining weight, it's essential to recognise that every child is unique and their growth patterns vary , common reasons for improper weight gain in children and poor appetite, high metabolism, nutritional deficiencies, frequent illness, eating disorder.
This reason are why the Nigerian stock Exchange group collaborate with the health emergency initiative to organise the Bringing life to our overlooked minors, which is a nutrition intervention programme for under five years children in all Lagos State health district.
Dr. Adedolapo Sotunde, the representative of the permanent secretary Lagos State health district IV, said the BLOOM project focuses on conducting growth monitoring to track and support healthy child development, encouraging breastfeeding, up to two years, delivering health education to empower mothers and caregivers and promoting the use of appropriate locally available foods to prepare nutrient-dense complementary meals.
The dignitaries at the flag off ceremony were Permanent Secretary Lagos State Health District V, representative of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Chairman, Yaba Local Council Development Area and other representative from the health sector.
