Canon Okusehinde Memorial School Old Students Elect New Executives in Spirit of Unity and Renewal -------Adekunle Amoo elected Chairman

Old students of Canon Okusehinde Memorial School, Ibadan, over the weekend elected a new leadership to steer the affairs of their alumni association into a new phase of growth and development.

The election, conducted during the association’s monthly general meeting held at the Civil Service Club, Ibadan, was described by attendees as transparent, inclusive, and conducted in a spirit of camaraderie.

 The process culminated in the emergence of Mr. Adekunle Amoo as Chairman and Mr. Abiodun Odefemi as Secretary, among other key officers. Other key officers include 

Assistant Secretary – Mrs. Toyin Bolomope Olatunji

Treasurer – Mr. Oludun Oyebamiji Adelowo

Financial Secretary – Mr. Olusegun Ayoade

Social/Welfare Secretary – Mrs. Christiana Temilola Abiola

Public Relations Officer – Mr. Christopher Adewole Babatunde

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Amoo, an environmentalist, expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to lead with integrity, purpose, and inclusivity. He extended appreciation to the outgoing executives, acknowledging their efforts in fostering unity and growth over the years.

“To the past executive members, I say thank you for your selfless efforts in fostering unity among members from inception till now. To the new executive team, welcome on board. I pray that the Lord will grant us the strength and wisdom to build on the foundations laid by our predecessors,” he said.

Outgoing Chairman, Pastor Oladele Ayanpeju, also addressed the gathering, reflecting on the association’s journey and expressing confidence in the new leadership. “Your dedication and unwavering support have been the backbone of our achievements. I have no doubt the new executives will continue in the same spirit of service,” he remarked.

Adding to the goodwill messages, a prominent member of the association, Dr. Adeyemo, commended the smooth and friendly transition, noting it as a model for other alumni groups. He lauded the turnout of members, including those based abroad such as Chief Kunle Kusaanu, who travelled from the United Kingdom to attend the meeting in person.

“Nominally, the society has 38 members, and about 20 attended the meeting. That level of participation is commendable. I suggest that we expand the society by welcoming all old students of OMS, regardless of graduation year. Once well rooted, we can then form sub-groups by class year. For this society to be truly enduring, we must encourage the participation of younger, financially viable members,” Dr. Adeyemo noted.

The meeting not only marked a peaceful transition of leadership but also served as a moment of reflection on the legacy of Canon Okusehinde Memorial School. Members used the occasion to reconnect, celebrate their shared heritage, and chart a forward-looking agenda for the alumni body.

As one of the rare primary school alumni associations in Nigeria, the Canon Okusehinde Memorial School Old Students’ Association continues to build a legacy of unity, service, and educational advancement.
