Egube, Fagbohun, 3 Others Honoured as Lagos Cooperative College Holds Second Convocation Ceremony

Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) celebrated its second convocation ceremony with pomp and purpose as it conferred honorary awards on five distinguished individuals, including Deputy Chief of Staff to Lagos State Egube, Fagbohun, 3 Others Honoured as Lagos Cooperative College Holds Second Convocation Ceremony's 

Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) celebrated its second convocation ceremony with pomp and purpose as it conferred honorary awards on five distinguished individuals, including Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Sam Egube, and former Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN

The event, which took place at the College’s main auditorium in Agege, Lagos, saw the graduation of over 200 students who successfully completed various diploma and certificate programmes in cooperative management and related studies.

Speaking at the convocation, the Rector of the College, Mr. Akorede Ojomu, highlighted the institution’s progress in expanding cooperative education and promoting enterprise development in Lagos State. He noted that the College, since its inception, has continued to fulfil its mandate of nurturing cooperative leaders equipped with both theoretical and practical skills to foster economic empowerment.

“Our graduates today are ambassadors of cooperative excellence. They are equipped to drive inclusive growth in their communities and contribute meaningfully to the economic agenda of Lagos State,” Ojomu said.

The five honorees were recognized for their outstanding contributions to cooperative development, public service, education, and community advancement. Among them were:

Mr. Sam Egube, for his strategic role in economic planning and support for institutional development in the cooperative sector;

Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, for his academic leadership and advocacy for inclusive, sustainable education;

Mrs. Omobola Akinwale, a cooperative movement stalwart;

Dr. Musa Oladele, an expert in cooperative finance; Chief Esther Ajayi, for philanthropy and community economic empowerment.

In his goodwill message, Mr. Egube commended the College for its role in deepening financial literacy and cooperative culture among Lagosians. “In a time when economic inclusion is paramount, the Lagos Cooperative College remains a critical driver of sustainable community enterprise,” he remarked.

Also speaking, Prof. Fagbohun urged graduates to uphold the values of integrity, service, and innovation. “The cooperative model is not just about pooling resources — it’s about shared vision and collective progress,” he said.

The event was attended by top government officials, cooperative leaders, educators, and family members of the graduates. Dignitaries applauded LASCOCO’s strategic vision and called for greater investment in cooperative education to bolster grassroots economic resilience.

Established by the Lagos State Government, the Lagos State Cooperative College has emerged as a hub for cooperative education, offering specialized training that aligns with the State Governor, Mr. Sam Egube, and former Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN.
