Reinstated Edo deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, resumes office

Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has returned to office and instructed his staff to do the same.

In a video broadcast on X.com on Monday, Shaibu wrote, “In adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, I announce my official resumption to the office. God Bless Edo State, God Bless Nigeria.”

In a video address, Shaibu directed those who haven’t resumed work since his reinstatement to do so immediately or face consequences. He emphasized that the Federal High Court’s judgment, which reinstated him, meant his office was never vacant.

He warned banks against conducting transactions with his office without his explicit approval, citing illegality.

Additionally, Shaibu revealed that he has requested the state governor’s approval to reinstate his aides but is still awaiting a response.
