Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed six senior public servants, including the Director of Public Affairs at the State Ministry of Health, Mr. Olatunbosun Ogunbanwo, as Permanent Secretaries in the state public service.

The appointments, which take effect from October 13, 2026, are expected to strengthen administrative efficiency, enhance policy implementation and improve service delivery across the state’s ministries, departments and agencies.

The Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, announced the appointments in a circular dated October 13, 2026, with reference number CIR/HOS/'26/071.

Other appointees are Dr. Olawale Mahadiyu Adegbite, Director of Medical Services at the Lagos State Health Service Commission; Mrs. Folashade Aina Thomas-Orogan and Mr. Adebayo Mubashiru Haroun, both Directors of State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice.

The list also includes Mrs. Olayinka Margret Oye-Bamgbose, Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), and Mrs. Bilquees Toyin Adekoya, Principal/Director of Education at Education District VI.

Ogunbanwo’s appointment is expected to draw on his extensive experience in public service, strategic communication, public relations and information management, spanning nearly three decades.

Before his elevation, he served as Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Health, where he was involved in communicating government policies, public health initiatives and critical health information to residents.

He previously held a similar position at the Ministry of Agriculture, further broadening his experience in government communication and public information management.

Ogunbanwo also played significant communication roles during Lagos State’s responses to major public health emergencies, including the Ebola outbreak, the COVID-19 pandemic, Lassa fever and diphtheria.

His experience in crisis communication and public health information management has positioned him as one of the state’s seasoned government communication professionals.

The appointments represent a new phase in the deployment of senior administrative personnel within the Lagos State Public Service, with the appointees expected to bring their professional expertise to bear on governance, institutional effectiveness and the delivery of public services.
