The Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO) has given table water producers across the state until October 19, 2026, to renew their operational licences or face enforcement action.
The Commission announced the deadline during a stakeholders’ sensitisation meeting with members of the Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP), Badagry Zone, held at the association’s secretariat in Badagry on September 24, 2026.
The engagement, according to LASWARCO, was part of efforts to strengthen regulatory compliance, promote best practices in packaged water production and ensure the availability of safe and potable water to residents.
Speaking through its delegation at the meeting, the Executive Secretary of LASWARCO, Barr. Oluwabukola Khadijah Adeyemo, stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the Commission and packaged water producers to achieve acceptable standards in the production and distribution of drinking water.
Adeyemo said the Commission remained committed to ensuring that packaged water produced in Lagos met required quality standards, while also being produced in hygienic environments and in accordance with extant regulations.
She consequently announced October 19, 2026, as the final deadline for the payment and renewal of operational licences by all table water producers in the state.
The Executive Secretary warned that operators who failed to meet the deadline would be subjected to enforcement measures in line with the Commission’s regulatory mandate.
The Chairperson of ATWAP, Badagry Zone, Mrs. Akinbo, commended LASWARCO for engaging producers directly, saying the sensitisation meeting had provided greater clarity on the Commission’s regulatory expectations.
Also speaking, the State Chairperson of ATWAP, Mrs. Omolabake Mosaku, praised LASWARCO for its continued engagement with stakeholders and pledged the association’s support in ensuring compliance among its members across Lagos.
Members of ATWAP, Badagry Zone, also expressed appreciation for the initiative and promised to disseminate the information to other producers.
LASWARCO assured stakeholders that it would continue to engage operators in the packaged water sector while strengthening regulatory compliance and safeguarding public health across the state.
