The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has said that opposition parties such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) do not currently pose a serious challenge to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC National Chairman made the statement on Saturday in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, at the conclusion of a three-day strategic retreat attended by members of the APC National Working Committee, National Executive Committee members and state chairmen.
Professor Nentawe pointed to the APC’s performance in the recent legislative bye-elections, where the party won four of the five seats contested across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states. The remaining seat was won by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
He also referred to a recent election in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State, noting that the APC emerged victorious there.
According to the APC National Chairman, the recent electoral results demonstrate the strength and grassroots organisation of the party as it prepares for the 2027 elections. He also stated that the party reviewed its structures from the national level down to the polling-unit level during the Maiduguri retreat.
The retreat also focused on strengthening reconciliation and unity among APC members, improving grassroots mobilisation, and enhancing the party’s campaign and communication strategy ahead of 2027.
The meeting expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other APC candidates who emerged through the party’s nomination processes.
