The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the refund of pilgrimage fees to intending pilgrims who were unable to participate in the 2025 pilgrimage exercise to the Holy Land of Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Board Secretary, Dr. Okudero Gbolabo Omoniyi, who commended the Lagos State Government for its prompt intervention and commitment to transparency in ensuring that affected pilgrims received their refunds without delay.
According to Dr. Omoniyi, appreciation has continued to pour in from affected intending pilgrims who lauded the government for being true to its word and for its transparent handling of the process. While many expressed disappointment at missing the spiritual exercise, they acknowledged that the timely refund brought relief and renewed trust in the Board and the present administration.
“We understand the disappointment of not being able to make the journey, but the government’s swift action in refunding these funds shows its care for the welfare of Christian pilgrims in Lagos,” Dr. Omoniyi stated.
Looking ahead, the Board Secretary expressed optimism for the 2026 pilgrimage exercise, praying that intending pilgrims would be favoured with visa approvals and seamless travel arrangements. He also announced that the Board has commenced sensitisation and is now open for fresh entries for the 2026 pilgrimage.
Dr. Omoniyi therefore called on the Christian community in Lagos to take advantage of the Board’s services for a well-coordinated and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience to the Holy Land
