Sanwo-Olu Hails Orderly APC Presidential Primary, Commends Massive Turnout in Lagos

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election at Ward E3, Adeniji Adele on Lagos Island, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent and reflective of internal democracy within the ruling party.

The governor, who arrived at the polling venue alongside his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, commended party members, officials of the APC and personnel of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the orderly conduct of the exercise and their commitment to ensuring a credible process.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at the premier ward, Sanwo-Olu said the direct primary system had provided party members at the grassroots with the opportunity to actively participate in the selection of the party’s presidential candidate.

He noted that the exercise, which was simultaneously taking place across the 245 wards in Lagos State and other parts of the country, recorded impressive turnout and enthusiastic participation by party faithful.

According to the governor, no fewer than 1,887 party members had voted at his ward as of the time he cast his ballot, describing the development as a strong indication of the confidence members repose in the APC and the democratic process.

Sanwo-Olu praised the patience and peaceful conduct displayed by voters, stressing that the seamless coordination of the exercise further demonstrated the organisational strength of the ruling party ahead of future electoral contests.

The governor also disclosed that he had earlier accompanied President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cast his vote at Ward L2, Ikoyi-Obalende in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.

He expressed optimism that the outcome of the primary election would further strengthen the APC’s unity and position the party for continued electoral success at the national level.

Party supporters and residents thronged the venue during the exercise, while security personnel maintained order to ensure a hitch-free voting process.
