Lagos Appoints Oyekanmi as New LTV General Manager

The Lagos State Government has appointed veteran communications strategist, Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi, as the new General Manager of Lagos Television (LTV), signaling a renewed push to reposition the state-owned television station for greater competitiveness, innovation and public engagement.

The appointment letter was presented to Oyekanmi by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, during a brief ceremony held on Wednesday at the State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

Oyekanmi takes over the leadership of the station following the disengagement of the immediate past General Manager, Mrs. Sola Kosoko.

The appointment is widely seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government to strengthen its public communication architecture and transform LTV into a more vibrant and digitally responsive broadcast platform capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving media landscape.

Before his elevation, Oyekanmi served as Director of the Strategy Centre in the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, a position he held from 2022. In that role, he was actively involved in developing strategic communication initiatives and coordinating media engagement for the state government.

With over three decades of experience spanning advertising, public relations, journalism, media strategy and export communications, Oyekanmi is regarded as a seasoned professional with deep institutional knowledge of public information management.

He joined the Lagos State Public Service on March 1, 2000, as a Public Affairs Practitioner in the Ministry of Information and Strategy and has since distinguished himself through dedication, professionalism and innovative communication practice.

An indigene of Isale Eko on Lagos Island, Oyekanmi has earned several recognitions for his contributions to journalism, strategic communication and public service.

Academically, he holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Education from Lagos State University.

He is also affiliated with the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Agoro described the new LTV helmsman as a competent administrator and accomplished communications expert with the capacity to drive institutional growth and reposition the station for greater impact.

He expressed confidence in Oyekanmi’s ability to deploy his extensive experience toward strengthening the station’s programming, operational efficiency and relevance within Nigeria’s competitive broadcast industry.

Beyond his professional engagements, Oyekanmi is known for his interest in leadership development, reading and lawn tennis. He also serves as Charter President of the Lagos State Ministry of Information Toastmasters Club.
