President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to commission a series of strategic infrastructure and social development projects in Lagos State during a two-day working visit scheduled for April 8 and 9, 2026.
The projects, executed by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, cut across transportation, education, public service infrastructure, and economic development—sectors critical to sustaining Lagos’ status as Nigeria’s commercial hub.
At a press briefing on Monday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, described the President’s visit as a significant endorsement of the state government’s ongoing efforts to modernise infrastructure and improve residents’ quality of life.
According to him, the projects slated for commissioning on Wednesday include the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service (e-GIS) Building, and a newly constructed Multi-Agency Complex in Alausa, named in honour of the President.
He added that the second day of the visit will feature the inauguration of the reconstructed Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, as well as the Mid-Level Agro-Product Hub located in Abijo along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Ibeju-Lekki.
Omotoso noted that the 5.04-kilometre Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge is designed to significantly ease traffic congestion across key corridors such as Ojota, Maryland, Mende, Opebi, and Allen within the Ikeja axis, thereby improving connectivity and travel time for commuters and businesses.
He further explained that the e-GIS Building represents a major step in digitising land administration processes in the state, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business.
Providing insight into the Multi-Agency Complex, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Adekunle Olayinka, said the facility will centralise several government agencies under one roof, reduce operational costs, and improve inter-agency collaboration and service delivery.
A major highlight of the commissioning is the rebuilt Tolu Schools Complex, a long-standing educational institution in Ajegunle that has undergone a comprehensive transformation after decades of deterioration. The facility now accommodates 36 schools—31 secondary and five primary—with an estimated student population of 20,000 on over 11 hectares of land.
Modern amenities at the complex include a standard football pitch, athletics tracks, multipurpose sports courts, a health centre, a fire station, and enhanced security infrastructure. The school is also equipped with sustainable features such as solar power systems, a water harvesting system, and a biodigester, alongside accessibility provisions like a solar-powered mechanical lift for persons living with disabilities.
Omotoso disclosed that the Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) has been mandated to ensure the proper maintenance of the facility to prevent future deterioration.
On economic development, the Mid-Level Agro-Product Hub in Abijo is expected to boost agricultural value chains, improve food logistics, and create employment opportunities within the Lekki-Epe growth corridor.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, represented by the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said no fewer than 500 traffic officials will be deployed to manage vehicular movement during the President’s visit.
Omotoso assured residents that adequate security, logistics, and traffic management measures have been put in place to minimise disruptions, urging Lagosians to comply with traffic advisories and cooperate with relevant authorities.
He emphasised that the projects collectively underscore the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to sustainable urban development, economic growth, and improved social welfare for the state’s growing population.
