Lagos Pilgrims Arrive Safely in Israel, Tour Historic Holy Land Sites

By Kayode Olopade

Christian pilgrims from Lagos arrived safely in Israel on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at approximately 12:05 p.m. Israel time (11:05 a.m. Lagos time). Upon arrival, the pilgrims commenced their Holy Land experience with a visit to key historical and biblical sites, beginning at the Allenby Border, symbolically marking their entry into the Promised Land.

The pilgrimage continued to Jericho, widely regarded as one of the oldest cities in the world. According to biblical accounts, it was in this region that Christ was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Pilgrims ascended the Mount of Temptation via cable car, enjoying panoramic views of the ancient city of Jericho while offering prayers and thanksgiving to Almighty God.

The pilgrims were also shown a 700-year-old sycamore tree, presented as a replica of the tree Zacchaeus climbed in his desire to see Jesus. During the tour, the guide encouraged the pilgrims to embrace the acronym “I Drink Tea (IDT),” highlighting the need to be Informed about historical sites, Devoted in prayer, and Thankful for Israel’s rich cultural heritage and tourist attractions, in order to achieve a fulfilling spiritual experience.Tuesday 3rd February, 2026

Along the journey to Jericho, pilgrims received insights and narratives on several notable landmarks, including the Judean Mountains, Samaria Mountain, Southern Galilee, the Jordan River, the Dead Sea, and other significant locations of biblical and historical importance.

The pilgrims concluded the third day of the pilgrimage activities and retired for the night at the Grand Hotels in Bethlehem.
