The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has announced that it recorded a total of ₦1.848 billion in cash donations within the last one year, as the state continues to scale up strategic investments in security infrastructure and operational support for security agencies.
Executive Secretary/CEO of the Fund, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, disclosed this on Thursday while presenting the Fund’s report at the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security with the Governor.
Ogunsan said the country’s rapidly evolving security environment has made it imperative for government, communities, and security agencies to deepen collaboration, noting that Lagos has remained comparatively safe due to consistent coordination and proactive planning.
He stressed that Lagos must continue to strengthen its preparedness, given its growing population and the constant movement of people into the state.
Established in 2007, the LSSTF provides complementary support to federal security agencies operating in Lagos, addressing long-standing logistical, operational, and infrastructure deficits. Ogunsan said the model has ensured “quick, transparent and targeted interventions” across various formations.
According to him, the Fund’s total security intervention expenditure stood at ₦1.775 billion within the review period.
The Lagos State Government, he noted, made a significant boost by donating 217 security vehicles, while private-sector partners contributed additional units, bringing the total number of operational vehicles deployed in 2025 to 228. The vehicles were equipped with communication gadgets and patrol accessories to enhance mobility and territorial coverage.
Other interventions included the provision of police uniforms, reflective jackets, communication devices, marine logistics, mechanical repairs, and the training of 220 police personnel for strategic operations.
Ogunsan highlighted the efficiency of the Fund’s governance structure under the Board of Trustees chaired by Mr. Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti. He noted that urgent security requests are evaluated and approved within 24 hours, ensuring swift intervention during emergencies.
He commended the Lagos Police Command under CP Olohundare Jimoh and other collaborating agencies such as the DSS, Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Defence Corps, FRSC, Immigration Service, NDLEA, and Customs for their resilience despite operational constraints.
Ogunsan revealed that the Fund recently received 240 retail donations amounting to ₦38 million from market women, youths, artisans, and residents across the state—an indication of rising public trust and shared responsibility for security.
The Fund also honoured the Commissioner of Police Special Squad, Ikeja, for a major July 2024 operation that led to the dismantling of a notorious kidnapping syndicate.
Looking ahead, Ogunsan announced that the LSSTF has entered into a partnership for the construction of a purpose-built headquarters, now underway and scheduled for completion in October 2026.
He reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to strengthening partnerships, deepening transparency, and supporting a safe and business-friendly Lagos.
