LASG SENSITISES CORPS MEMBERS ON EMERGENCY, SECURITY,SAFETY AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING

 The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development has organised year 2025 Vocational Training, Security, Safety And Emergency Preparedness For National Youth Service Corps Members resident in the State to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to cope in all situations.

In his keynote address at the maiden edition of the program held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium on Tuesday, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Social Development Mr Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende said, "the initiative reflects the Lagos State Government unwavering commitment to youth development.It is in line with Mr Governor's unwavering commitment to youth development.Youth development is not only about empowerment,it involves equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need not only to survive but also to succeed in any situation they find themselves."

Mr Ogunlende  said,"safety is not a matter of choice, it is something everyone must be intentional about.We cannot afford to play with security or safety.We also want to help our youth through this program to become ambassadors of safety wherever they find themselves, for them to know what to do in times of emergency."

Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary Pharm (Mrs) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu assured the participants that the Ministry would make the program an annual one in order for every corps member posted to Lagos State to have awareness of everything that will make their service year worthwhile.

Her words,"we know there are lot of issues that the youth corps member have to grapple with ranging from manmade to natural disasters.This program will help them know how to act swiftly in times of emergency.It will help to build their resilience.It is line with Mr Governor's THEMES plus Agenda of Security '

On her part, Lagos National Youth Service Corps Coordinator, Mrs Christiana Salmwang commended the State Government for being always there for the youth corps members in terms of welfare and security.

Mrs Salmwang, represented Mrs Ehimwenma Itohan, described the program as a laudable initiative which will enlighten serving Corpers in Lagos State to be conversant with security and safety to navigate where they are engaged for their primary assignment.

Representatives of Rapid Response Squad, Command and Control Centre,Fire and Rescue Service, LASTMA, and the Lagos State Aids Control Agency took the participants through different sessions of presentations to equip them with knowledge and skills on security awareness and safety preparedness.
