LAGOS HEALTH DISTRICT IV BEGINS ROUTINE MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF PRIMARY HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

Lagos State Health District IV has commenced a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation exercise across primary healthcare centres within the district, in a move aimed at strengthening service delivery and improving public health outcomes.

According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Officer of the district, Mr. Oputeh Michael, the exercise involves a systematic collection and analysis of data to assess the effectiveness, safety, and overall performance of primary healthcare facilities.

He noted that the district’s Health Workforce Team is visiting facilities across the Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) under its jurisdiction. The visits focus on educating health workers on safety standards, patient trust, and the importance of consistent communication between district authorities and the primary healthcare centres.

Michael explained that the initiative demonstrates the district’s commitment to closing communication gaps and ensuring that residents benefit from improved, high-quality healthcare services.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District IV, Dr. Abimbola Bowale, represented by the Head of the Health Workforce Team, Dr. Titilola Oni, said the routine evaluation aligns with the district’s mandate to protect the health and safety of the people.

She emphasised that while regulations remain important, sustained engagement and capacity-building for healthcare workers are equally critical to achieving optimal service delivery.

“All primary healthcare centres under District IV must be adequately equipped with the right knowledge and practices to deliver quality care to patients,” she said.

Dr. Oni added that the district will continue to conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation to ensure continuous improvement across all primary healthcare facilities within its coverage areas.
