It was an atmosphere of joy, nostalgia, and gratitude on Friday, November 7, 2025, as colleagues, friends, and family gathered at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, to honour Mr. Morakinyo Akinrinade, a distinguished officer of the Lagos State Public Service, on the occasion of his retirement and 60th birthday celebration.

The event, organised in his honour, drew dignitaries from across the state’s information sector, government agencies, and the media, who came together to celebrate a man described as a consummate professional and a model of public service excellence.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Chief of Staff, Mr Semiu Kadri, praised the celebrant for his outstanding dedication, humility, and professionalism throughout his career. He noted that Mr. Akinrinade exemplified the core values of integrity and hard work that define the Lagos State Public Service.

“Mr. Akinrinade has served with distinction. His sense of responsibility, loyalty, and leadership has left a lasting legacy that younger officers can emulate,” he said.

Other speakers, including former colleagues, friends, and associates, took turns to share glowing tributes, describing him as a team player, a thoroughbred communicator, and a dependable mentor who contributed immensely to strengthening the state’s public information machinery.

In his response, Mr. Akinrinade expressed deep appreciation to God, the Lagos State Government, and his colleagues for their support and cooperation throughout his service years. He described his public service journey as fulfilling and impactful, saying he was grateful for the privilege to contribute his quota to the growth and development of the state.

He urged serving officers to remain dedicated and professional, emphasizing that “there is enduring honour in public service when it is done with sincerity, humility, and passion.”

The event featured goodwill messages, musical interludes, cultural displays, and a documentary highlighting his career milestones. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, emotions, and celebration as guests toasted to Mr. Akinrinade’s new chapter in life.
