Adebowales Bid Final Farewell to Matriarch, Madam Cecilia Adebowale

The Adebowale family at the weekend bade an emotional farewell to their matriarch, Madam Cecilia Ademilola Adebowale, who passed on at the age of 87.

The final burial rites reached their climax with a solemn yet celebratory farewell service held at the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun District Headquarters, Aye Oja, Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Saturday. Family members, friends, and well-wishers from far and near gathered to honour and celebrate the life of the late octogenarian.

In his exhortation, the District Superintendent of the Church, Pastor Moses Olabode, described Madam Adebowale as a God-fearing and virtuous woman who devoted her life to serving God and humanity. He noted that she instilled in her children enduring values of honesty, hard work, and unwavering faith in God, urging them to sustain her legacy through their conduct and good deeds.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the first son, Elder (Prince) Gbadebo Johnson Adebowale, paid glowing tribute to his late mother, describing her as more than a parent — a teacher, mentor, and best friend.

> “My late mum wasn’t only my mother but also my teacher, mentor, and one of my best friends. She was everything to me. I will never forget the memories we shared — the laughter, and even the tears. She will be missed not only by the family but by everyone whose lives she touched,” he said.

Madam Cecilia Ademilola Adebowale was fondly remembered as a resilient, compassionate, and selfless woman whose faith and kindness left lasting impressions on everyone who encountered her.

The farewell service drew a large attendance, including traditional rulers, community leaders, market men and women, church members, relatives, and admirers, as well as her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren — all united in celebrating a life well lived.
