Lagos Civil Servants Undergo Executive Leadership Training,

In a fresh push to build a world-class public service, the Lagos State Government has launched a two-day Executive Leadership Training Programme for civil servants, in partnership with the Rome Business School, Nigeria.

The programme, which held at the Marriot Hotel, Ikeja, is aimed at equipping public servants with the leadership skills and innovative capacity required to meet the evolving demands of modern governance.

Speaking at the opening session, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, described the initiative as a bold step by the administration to strengthen human capacity and prepare civil servants to be “efficient, forward-thinking, and globally competitive.”

According to him, the training would provide participants with practical tools to lead effectively at the highest levels of government while ensuring they remain “globally informed yet locally effective.” He urged attendees to approach the programme with open minds, build networks, and translate lessons into tangible results across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Also addressing participants, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, noted that the exercise is a strategic investment in the future of the state. He said Lagos thrives on a dynamic and innovative civil service, stressing that the collaboration with the Rome Business School underscores government’s resolve to develop a workforce that is both globally competitive and locally impactful.

On his part, the General Manager of Rome Business School Nigeria, Mr. Olakunle Asunmo, explained that the training was designed to sharpen decision-making skills, enhance efficiency, and improve service delivery within the public sector. He added that the sessions would provide hands-on learning opportunities for officers to apply real-world solutions to governance challenges.

The advanced leadership and policy management course was attended by middle-level, management, and principal officers in the Lagos State Civil Service. The initiative is seen as part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, thereby fostering a new generation of highly competent and effective public servants in the state.
