Towards ensuring sustainable food supply and long-term agricultural security, the Lagos State Government is set to officially launch the 'Produce for Lagos' programme on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
The initiative, a flagship project under the state’s agricultural development agenda, is designed to connect producers across Nigeria with the Lagos market — the largest consumer base in the country. It seeks to unlock new market opportunities, enhance logistics, and drive critical investments into agricultural value chains nationwide.
Spearheaded by the Lagos State Government in partnership with the Lagos Food Systems Infrastructure Company, the programme is a bold example of effective public-private collaboration. Its objective is to create a reliable, structured food supply system that supports farmers, improves distribution networks, and ultimately strengthens food security not just for Lagos, but for the nation at large.
The ‘Produce for Lagos’ model also aligns with broader national goals of promoting self-sufficiency, reducing post-harvest losses, and creating jobs across the agriculture and logistics sectors.
With just five days to go until its unveiling, anticipation is growing among stakeholders, including farmers, investors, supply chain operators, and policy makers.
The launch event is expected to draw high-level government officials, private sector leaders, development partners, and representatives from agribusiness communities across the country.
